Description: When a bridge, left of centre, was destroyed by shelling, a tank was driven into the breach and used as a pier for bridging equipment to be laid across. In this image, taken in late afternoon on D-Day, the improvised bridge is visible, with a flail tank positioned on the north side. On the beach are several empty landing craft, stranded by the falling tide.
