Description: This image shows elements of the 1st Battalion the Dorsetshire Regiment moving out of the Gold Beach area to begin their assault on the German strongpoint WN40, at Puits d'Herode. The traffic jam at the top of the image was caused by a very large crater, eventually bridged by the Royal Engineers of 79 Armoured Division.
